The events in Last Exile are set on the fictional world of Prester. The two nations of Anatoray and Disith, separated by a turbulent region of the sky known as the Grand Stream, engage in an eternal conflict according to the code of chivalric warfare. The Guild, which enforces these rules, provides technology to both nations but has dishonorable intentions. Although the story is set in the future, the technology employed in Last Exile differs from that in a typical space opera.Instead, the show's retro-futuristic setting resembles nineteenth century Europe at the height of the Industrial Revolution.
Last Exile also shows the existing tension between the upper and lower classes. The upper class generally believes that the lower class do not understand their codes of chivalry. On the other hand, the lower class also despises the upper class for its lavish way of life. This tension extends to the accessibility of clean water, which varies in purity grades according to availability to the separate classes.
The series introduces viewers to a wide range of naval and military vocabulary.Inhabitants of Prester operate aerial battleships and vehicles known as vanships in the world's Golden Age of Aviation. More primitive navigational instruments such as the sextant are also used throughout the series.
My Thoughts:
It has been awhile since I watched this series so excuse the review. When I first saw the images on this series I was not sure if it was going to be good or going to be really bad. It was like a period piece set in something that looked like Europe but instead of horses they used battleships. I do have to say that they animation will blow you away. It was beautifully done. I will give this a 4 out of 5. If you have not seen this one before, you should see it.
