Plot (From Wikipedia):Ten years ago, an inscrutable and abnormal territory known as Hell's Gate appeared in Tokyo, altering the sky and wreaking havoc on the landscape. The heavenly bodies disappeared, replaced by false stars. During this time, people who possess various special abilities emerged. Kept secret from the masses, these individuals, known as Contractors, are able to murder in cold blood. Various nations and organizations around the world use Contractors as spies and assassins, often resulting in violent battles for information. Each fake star has a corresponding Contractor, and they vibrate when their Contractor's power is being used. As such, Contractors are usually identified by their star's Messier catalogue number. However, their abilities are gained at the cost of their humanity. They are implied to lack human emotions which includes no aversions to murder, and they are regarded as extremely rational and logical in their decision making. Contractors are thus named because of their need to always complete a remuneration or payment each time their power is used (ex. eating flowers, breaking fingers, drinking blood). It is not entirely clear what happens to one if he or she fails to complete the remuneration. Contractors are described as being psychologically compelled to complete their remunerative task. During the series a contractor does mention a rumor of contractors melting if they don't complete the payment, but it could just be a bluff to impress his captive.
My Thoughts:
I know I started a job and it will definitely slow down my anime viewing but this time I promise it will not completely stop. LOL!
Ok, now onto this series. I honestly was not at all interested in watching this series but I read a review (sorry forgot which one) and decided to give this series a try. At first, I regretted that I even started to watch the show but decided to give it a chance. I honestly thought this was going to be a dropped series. I guess you can consider this an action anime but the pacing of the story was just slow and since it followed the "monster of the week" [not really monster but you know what I mean], you could not really feel any connection with the characters. Probably 12-13 episodes in, it started to get good. The pacing was faster and they tied the background of the main protagonist pretty well since it was scattered throughout the series.
I did not care much for the songs/music but it was tolerable. They also followed a weird setting for the episode sectioning...whatever you call it. The episode starts with the episode itself and then somewhere close to 6 or 7 minutes it, the opening song will play. I honestly did not mind it. I thought it was pretty creative.
Overall, I give this a 3.5out of 5. Definitely give it a try but I won't blame you if you drop it.
BTW: A new season is slotted to start in Japan end of this year supposedly. I will definitely watch it.
